today i learned: ids are unique, bootstrap is powerful, and japan awaits

today's checklist

  • im swissgambit on linkedin projects

  • im swissgambit on notion project portfolio

  • bookbot on linkedin projects

  • bookbot on notion project portfolio

  • compclub hub on linkedin projects

  • compclub hub on notion project portfolio

  • update linkedin profile banner

  • start freecodecamp front end development libraries track

  • add front end development libraries track to linkedin education section

  • make github repo for freecodecamp code to store in while learning

finally starting that one day streak of productive days

recapping bootstrap

by 11.38, i completed the bootstrap course on the front end development library on freecodecamp

here are my thoughts after completing the course:

  • i may have been using bootstrap, bootstrap columns, bootstrap rows, and ids wrong the entire time
  • when i've used bootstrap in the past, i've always had a ton of css in my styles file but really, bootstrap is meant to minimise the usage of the css file - that's why we can use its framework's built-in classes in our html files
  • in the past, i have also used ids multiple times when they should only be used once

moral of the story: definitely revise the technology's documentation and its fundamentals rigorously before you start using it.

what would be appropriate as a linkedin banner?

i understand profile pictures, but profile banners? what are these for? (says someone who's never used twitter properly, or x.) before this day, my linkedin banner had been empty, or had been filled with a matcha green palette.

so what now?

i took to google to look for an answer.

ah. i see.

what would i like to see as my linkedin banner? there was definitely one thing on my mind, and one thing only.

a single personal interest.

despite nearing my final year of university, i don’t concretely know what i want to do in the future, but what i do know, is that i want to see this view in kamakura japan again, and live there for a period of my life.

yep, that hits the spot.

updating the notion portfolio and my linkedin projects section

continuing on, one of my goals today was to catch up on the stuff i wasn't able to do yesterday: to update my linkedin profile's project section and my notion project portfolio pages. i was able to successfully complete the additions of the im swissgambit and bookbot projects but missed out on compclub hub.

misc.

those who know me would know about how i began datacamp's courses and subscribed to them last summer. during that period, i fell in love with sql and relational databases, so when i was on my daily afternoon tiktok scroll, it made me smile to see this website recommended:

it's still in development but is a really cool concept. i only tried out the first few exercises since it was quite repetitive but i bet it'll become a fun revision tool for sql commands in the future.
