search functionality, mobile responsiveness, and daily quests

today's checklist

  • do yesterday's blog

  • finish blog search bar functionality

  • finish styling for notes within blogs

  • mobile responsiveness

  • language dailies

proud to say that the blog is finally running! (just needs to be a tad bit more responsive)

search bar breakthroughs

i started the day off with the most important task - finishing off the search bar functionality.

continuing off from yesterday, i wanted to make sure that results were only shown when the search bar is being focused on; i found this link that helped quite a bit:

after fiddling and tweaking bits of code, i was able to get it working with my current code. now, i wanted to make the search work with a json file rather than using an array within the html javascript; this link helped with fetching the data needed from my json file:

once i got it working by 10.36, i thought about the global blog search i had in mind, and concluded that it would be inefficient, so i kept the json file minimal with each blog's headings, previews and etc.

by 11.15 i had finished integrating the search bar into every html page i have (copied and pasted the header).

will the blog respond?

by 14.31 i finished implementing the responsive for the home page, except splitting the checklist and tag elements to the bottom of the page (i don't know how to separate them out of order). so, i guess i'll have to look into it later on! i found a link that might help me with it:

at 16.07 i had finished doing all the mobile responsiveness i could apply.

for some of the headings, i had to alternate between justify-center and text-center; i wasn't really fan of the inconsistency but i will look into this for future implementations.
